Good times depend on many factors. Heavyweight guys can achieve some awesome times for sure. With teams like GB having a cut off for HWT at a slowest time of 6.10. Lightweight guys get it a little easier (of which I am one of those, and its not easy!), needing a time of 6.33. Girls HWT your looking ...

A good average time for non-competitors would be around 8 minutes or less..

Well, the World Record for 2000m on the concept rowing machine was set in 2007 by Rob Waddell of New Zealand. He achieved a time of 5 minutes 36.6 seconds which is pretty awesome.
